What is ballet?

  • Ballet is a type of performance dance that originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia

  • Stylistic variations have emerged and evolved since the Italian Renaissance for eg. romantic-, classical-, neoclassical and contemporary- ballet
  • Perhaps the most widely known and performed ballet style is late Romantic ballet, a classical style that focuses on female dancers (ballerinas) and features pointe work, flowing and precise movements, and often presents the female dancers in traditional, short white tutus

  • one of the famous young Croatian ballerina
  • UNESCO scholarship holder
  • studied at the Tanz Akademie in Zurich from 2004 to 2006
  • member of the National Ballet in Zagreb from 2006 to 2009 and from 2011 onwards
  • member of the Portugal National Ballet (Companhia Nacional de Bailado) from 2009 to 2011
  • promoted to the status of ballet soloist in 2013
